Primitive Skills | Intro to Animal Tracking
Explore Spoke Hollow Ranch with this hands-on course that will take you to the field to learn the fundamentals of how to find and identify animal tracks and sign in a variety of habitats including forest, grasslands, and river banks.
This class is taught by Master Naturalist, Lee Burton. Lee is also certified in Wildlife Track and Sign by Cybertracker North America. This 4-hour course will focus primarily on medium to large mammals but will also cover some smaller animals and how to identify them based on their track features. You will learn the principles of tracking, how to understand track morphology, where to find tracks, and how to identify the tracks of some of the most common species in the area including deer, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, opossums, squirrels, bobcats, rabbits, and other common species.
The class is limited to 12 participants to ensure the best quality experience.
The class is outdoors, so weather may require changes to the schedule. We will alert all participants if changes are necessary for safety and comfort.
